Bread (mmmmm)
Bread of Life I love bread, especially fresh warm bread dripping with melted butter. I can easily make a whole meal of it. There are many other foods that I love as well. In fact, the lust for food and the pleasure and comfort it gives me is one of my habitual weaknesses (i. e. sins). Jesus said he is the bread of life, but, I confess that when it comes to my spiritual life I can approach it like I do vegetables-it’s good for me. Daily devotions, readings, and prayers are

Being Not So Special
I often need to be reminded that God works in the everyday things of life. This is a quote from Oswald Chambers that reminds me of that and grounds me in the ordinary. "We do not need the grace of God to withstand crises--human nature and pride are sufficient enough for us to face the stress and strain magnificently. But it does require the supernatural grace of God to live twenty-four hours of every day as a saint, going through the drudgery, and living the ordinary, unnot

How NOT to Pray
There is a common saying that goes “Be careful what you pray for.” The warning is that God may just give you what you are praying for but in a way that you don’t want. I have found this to be true in my life, so I have compiled a list of things to NOT pray for. Encouragement or Warning
OTHERS MAY, YOU CANNOT G.D. Watson If God has called you to be truly like Jesus in all your spirit, He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility. He will put on you such demands of obedience that you will not be allowed to follow other Christians. In many ways, He seems to let other good people do things which He will not let you do. Others who seem to be very religious and useful may push themselves, pull wires, and scheme to carry out their plans, but you cannot

A Poetic Thought by Rich Mullins
Washing At Dusk by Rich Mullins Release Magazine Summer 1992 Someday I shall be a great saint—like those you see in the windows of magnificent cathedrals. I will have a soul made of sunlight and skin as clear as the stained glass panels that make their skin, and I will shine like they do now—I will shine with the glory that comes over those who rise up early and seek the Lord... But I do not shine so now—especially not in the morning. In fact, I grimace until noon. I would ne

My Life Philosophy.
These are phrases and quotes that I keep telling myself to remind me of things that are important or to deal with feelings of discontent and frustration. They reflect some of the things I have learned and represent who I desire to be. “…it does require the supernatural grace of God to live twenty-four hours of everyday as a saint, going through drudgery, and living an ordinary, unnoticed, and ignored existence as a disciple of Jesus. It is ingrained in us that we have to
